Christine Young Band

From Jubitz Ponderosa Lounge to the Vancouver Sausage Festival to the White Eagle Saloon, the Christine Young Band bridges the many faces of country music.

Established in January 2002, the band plays regularly at Portland's favorite Americana venues as well as the local straight-ahead country honky tonks, Young delivers
"Wickedly Fun Americana". With her signature red cowboy boots and long blond hair, Christine's musical spirit intimates what might happen if Trick Pony was fused with Patsy Cline.

With such an array of stages, this band has seen it all! From a $50 bill presented by a new fan; to a money shower thrown by a lineup of burly truckers; to terms of endearments from drunk two-steppers and tush pushers. There have been parking lot solicitations involving cigarettes and sisters, and an indignant accusation of "that ain't county music, I'm callin' KUPL and claiming false advertising!" Then there is a proud new CD owner who doesnít even own a CD player, or the Charlie's Angels fan who skipped the movie because Young's music kept him captivated. No matter what the situation, the Christine Young Band enjoys performing to the many audiences of country.

Christine and her band recorded `The First Time' in April 2003 at Falcon Studios with Dennis Carter. Backed by
Mark Ledford on bass, Chris Scholten on drums, and now Michael Yates on lead guitar, Christine's musical vision is faithfully portrayed. The playful and fiery flavor of `Eggs Benedict Throne' encourages the audience to get out on the floor and line dance, `All My Husbands' maintains a strong rockabilly and toe tappiní edge that stays true to country while `Forbidden Fruit' spins the band into more of a rock genre (shades of Heart). It is this combination of old influences, new influences and her own personal influences that create the Wickedly Fun Americana style of the Christine Young Band.

No matter what the night brings,
Young doesn't miss a beat as she belts out hour upon hour of high-powered Americana. Her voice sustains up to five hours of full throttle singing a night, taking the audience out on one of the best dates of their lives and leaving them begging for ìmore!î. Her song writing touches on common subject matters, and some matters not so commonly discussed. Never-the-less, she tells it like it is and isnít afraid to sing out.?
Be it traditional or alternative, the Christine Young Band delivers county music wrapped up tight in a wickedly fun package. Don't miss the unveiling at each nightís show. Itís good for the soul and your own hidden agenda.
